St. Bernard Ministries
Rev. John Powers, founding pastor, 1925
Monsignor H. Gerald McS
As a church we are privileged to be able host a number of ministries that seek to reach out in various ways. There is a place to call your own. We believe that for everyone God has a place that brings life, peace, joy, and rest. It may be in a small group, helping with the children or youth ministries, organizing a retreat, or participating in a prayer service. It is really about a celebration of life and the many ways that God works in our lives.

There are specific areas in which the church is involved that are detailed in the links below.

Altar Society
Our mission is to enhance worship at St. Bernard Parish by devoting our time and talent to creating an altar and sanctuary that exemplifies the glory of God and to promote friendship and fellowship among all people of the parish, regardless of age or length of time a person has been a parish member.

El Shaddai
El Shaddai is a Catholic charismatic renewal movement from the Philippines founded by Mariano Mike Velarde.

Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society is committed to helping its members grow in holiness through devotion to the most Holy Name of Jesus.

Italian Catholic Federation
The Italian Catholic Federation is a fraternal, Catholic, family organization working with the parish to achieve the goals of charitable works and support of seminarians.

Knights of Columbus
Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society.

Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary, founded in Ireland in 1921, is a lay catholic organization whose voluntary members give service to the church worldwide.

Pastoral Council
Catholic pastors consult pastoral councils in order to be better leaders. Bishops and priests ask their councillors to investigate some aspect of the church, reflect on it, and recommend their conclusions.

St. Bernard Catholic School

Youth Ministry
Youth ministry is an age-specific religious ministry and is the way in which a faith group, or other religious organization involves and engages with the young people who attend its place of worship, or live in its community.
